Marilize Venter

Soloist & Vocal Coach

Marilize Hattingh studied at the North-West University (NWU) Potchefstroom Campus graduating with a B.Pharm (Pharmacy) degree in 2015. Following her first degree, her lifelong passion and experience drove her to study a degree in music. In 2019 she graduated with a B.Mus (Music) degree specialising in vocal methodology and practical singing.

During this time she was a member of the NWU PUK-Choir under Prof. Awie van Wyk and current conductor, Kobus Venter. She was also a member of the renowned a capella group, The Boulevard Harmonists, winning two competitive international awards during her time. In 2018 she made her Opera debut as "Frasquita" in Carmen. She has also been part of various Baroque ensembles and training courses under the leadership of Antoinette Lohman (Amsterdam Conservatory) and Florian Cramer (Musikhochschule, Freiburg) to name a few.  

 

In 2020 she joined the Vox Chamber Choir under the leadership of composer Franco Prinsloo. In 2022 she performed the role of Mary, mother of Jesus, in Franco Prinsloo's Christmas oratorium "Lig Van Waarheid" with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra in the Groote Kerk, Cape Town. She is the current appointed voice teacher for the female voice groups in the choir.
